0004224: Converting to UTF-8 does not report conversion complete

After converting your forum to UTF-8, you are sent to a url of "index.php?action=admin;area=maintain;done=convertutf8"

There is no maintenance message in green showing that it has completed the task, unlike other maintenance tasks.

0004221: Large posts fail to parse on UTF8 forum

On UTF8 forums, parsing large posts (say > 12k characters) may fail to load, rendering the post completely blank.

This doesn't seem to be directly linked to parse_bbc, as the Edit Post screens are affected as well.

On closer examination, the rows seem to be loaded correctly from the database. It's after calling functions like censorText() that things go sour.

document.cookie = sKey + '=' + encodeURIComponent(sValue);

This line needs to be modified to add the appropriate path information based on SMF settings.

I didn't test it, but if that is the case, then SMF installer should complain about the lack of permissions to create tables, instead of continuing and grumbling a mere consequence...

0004156: Collation errors when mixing UTF8 SMF tables with mod fields/tables

(Inspired from my message from yesterday: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=200401.msg2443307#msg2443307) [^]

When creating tables at install time on an UTF8 environment, SMF specifically asks for an utf8_general_ci collation when creating its own tables, but doesn't specify anything when creating tables for packages (db_create_table, db_add_column, etc.) -- instead relying, I suppose, on the default collation provided by the database.

This default collation is not necessarily utf8_general_ci -- it can be, for instance, 'utf8_unicode_ci'. This can lead up to SQL errors when trying to mix SMF tables with mod tables (or maybe even mod fields inside a SMF table.)

Suggestion: make sure everything is harmonized.

PS: I could also 'force' the query to choose a collation, but I certainly don't want to do that if I can avoid it... Of course, in order to avoid it, SMF would need to change the collation type for its tables on the next upgrade.

0004214: Postgres installer on the same database returns errors

I installed a SMF 2.0 rev. 9804 on a Postgres database where I already has a previous installation (different prefix).

There is a bug preventing non administrators from attaching files when creating an event.
More information is needed but this is is a confirmed bug.

0003778: Personal Messages- "Manage rules" refuses to add rules

In Personal Messages, Manage Rules, I try adding a rule this way:
- write a name
- write a criterion like sender name: test and press Add criteria
- add an action "delete action" and press Add action or not.
Then try to save rule. ==> it fails, saying

An Error Has Occurred!
A rule must have at least one criteria and one action set.

The message is not accurate, I had one criterion and one action.
Yet, in the run, I pressed the add criteria/add action links like they were buttons *confirming* my (first) entry, instead of links allowing entry of a second. Now it seems that it's expecting me to enter the second criterion/action, otherwise I cannot save the rule.

Perhaps the links can be worded a little more clearly, like "add another criterion" or "add another action".
More importantly though: it seems to me that SMF should either: allow to remove the empty useless criterion that's blocking my save (I have no means to remove it, once I've added it), or, better, it could check for empty actions / criteria and ignore them.

0002293: Adding Labels to PMs in conversation mode buggy

If you use the add label select box on individual PMs you:
1) Can not add/remove the inbox label from messages you sent
2) Can only use the label box of the first message
That means if the first message is sent by you you can not add or remove any labels using any add label box.

0003336: [Firefox] Unable to hyperlink images [WYSIWYG]

0004213: Field names should have a ` in db_change_column

If using SMF's db_change_column function to rename a field, the old name has to be something else than a MySQL reserved word.

If it is for instance 'desc' or 'limit' (the fields I'm trying to rename myself), SMF will generate a query that MySQL rejects because the field names aren't rejected and the end result is malformed.
I can "fix" this by using `` around the field name when passing it to db_change_column. However, the way the function is written, it requires for field names to be exactly how MySQL lists them -- i.e., without the quotes around them. Otherwise, SMF fails to find them, and doesn't execute the query.

Fix: simply add `` around $old_column at line 367 in DbPackages-mysql.php

Apparantely the problem is global moderator does have the "merge_any" permission

0004211: mod's and global mods cant merge topics

The mods and global moderators are for some reason to merge topics. The group permissions and post count group permissions are correct as far as I know.

However it does work on my test forum. Really not sure what else there is to say except it happens on RC2.

0004206: Undefined index: poll_expire

I keep getting the error below in my error log occasionally, but I'm unable to reproduce it myself. Looking at the line in question, it seems $_POST['poll_expire'] is not (always) sent by the user's browser.

Confirmed that it's happening to different themes. Only seems to be ok with default Curve theme.

0004073: Can send PMs to accounts that are pending deletion

If a user requests to delete their account, while the request is held pending, PMs can be sent from both admin and non admin accounts, will be received into their inbox.

No notification email is sent to the user, and no warning is issued.

Confirmed in 20091207 nightly, though present in Charter RC2.

I can replicate still this on the latest svn: a standard global moderator group (id_group = 2) can access the moderation center, even though they don't have "Access the moderation center" permission. (they don't have "Moderate forum members" either).
We probably have hardcoded group id = 2.
It might have been intended behavior, but it seems it is not the behavior administrators expect, when they uncheck the box for access to mod center, and moderators still access it.

0004024: [Curve] titlebg background color

Is this by design?

I noticed that the titlebg class uses a light blue color (background-position: 0 -120px) when it's used inside a td (td.titlebg) or #upshrinkHeaderIC h4.titlebg, however it uses a darker blue color (background-position: 0 -160px) in all other h3.titlebg and h4.titlebg occurrences.

I would like to point out that the darker blue color is used in a lot of other classes (most notably catbg). Wouldn't it be more logical to use the ligher blue a bit more? Right now, there is no way to have a header make use of that color *and* get rounded corners (as td.titlebg won't have the rounded corners).
I think maybe it's an oversight?
