DescriptionPlease see for details:

Additional InformationI tend to think that we could solve this for 2.0 even. Opinions appreciated.

I'm fine moving to 2.0.

It should be possible to change the regexp to work...

That require less than 2 minutes so can't see why cannot be done for 2.0, knowing our current stage simply remove the option for UTF-8 Forums seems to be the best way to go.

I just installed a fresh SMF 2.0 with UTF-8, and I'm unable to reproduce this, I added MMM => kkk to censored words, when I tried QKMMMSS it's converted to QKkkkSS, if I mark the whole word option I don't have the same result, the returned string contains the MMM, but if I just type MMM it's property converted to kkk.

You might want to try with the exact example in the linked topic, the censored word has international characters which might show the problem.

I tried with Ñ and ???? (isn't showned here but it's the same posted here: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=363219.msg2612760#msg2612760 [^]), and I had the same result.

I do think it's dependent on PHP/PCRE version; the user who originally flagged this was having issues on a PHP 4 system. I can't seem to reproduce this on 5.2.13 myself.

This should be moved to Saguaro then, I thought it was an issue that could be reproduced in every forum.

Can we confirm this isn't an issue for >5.2.13?

I have to repeat the tests, but it seems than it works if SMF is installed directly in UTF8, but it doesn't work on converted forums even on new posts.
