|Summary||0004989: chars allowed in posts and altering of table|
|Description||I think we have discussed it somewhere, but since I found another pet to play with I didn't had time to sort it out, so let's track it to not forget.|
At the moment it's possible to change the maximum limit of chars for a post, when this number is higher than the limit of text field in mysql (~65k) SMF alters the table changing it to mediumtext and disables the index on the field.
When the limit is moved back it alters again the table back to text.
Many bad things, so it should be changed.

Alter columnss is a job for maintenace tasks, not for settings change: moved the altering of the body table from text to mediumtext and vice versa to maintenance with proper checks and warnings regarding possible truncated messages
