Summary0001478: Finding the Registration agreement (board rules)
DescriptionI'm used to put my board rules into it, so when I tell people, "Read the friggin' rules!", they tell me "where?", and I'm forced to explain they have to log out, and attempt to re-register...

1-Maybe it could be read from a link within the profile. That way, I could simply say--"Read the friggin' rules! IN YOUR PROFILE!!" :-D

2-Maybe something could be done with the beta tester agreement code where testers have to agree to any changes, I don't know. Could take some time to implement though... But the link to the agreement page? Easy :)

Agreed. I wouldn't put it in the profile section, not with its current looks, anyway. I'm not sure where else to put it though. Maybe as a page in the help section?

Rudolf (Viewer)

Or just add a page which would show the agreements, no questions asked.
Then theme creators/forum admins could put it where they want. One could even make a redirected board. ;)

You know you can always just link to the agreement.txt file...

Nao/Gilles (Viewer)

I can code my own templates myself of course, but it's not about that -- it's about making sure everyone has easy access to this feature.

Thantos (SMF Friend)

The thing is that the registration agreement isn't always the same as the board rules. Hell most forums don't even change the agreement.

Nao/Gilles (Viewer)

Then maybe it'd be a good idea to share the agreement section into two sections: a general agreement (agreement.txt), and a board rules section (boardrules.txt), which wouldn't be shown if the file is empty or not present. Users would have to consent to both files and then would be able to access both in their profile. Okay, maybe a little bit complicated.

Really, people don't often read agreements in their entirety. I know I've been forced to put some text in bold and color it red so that they actually notice there's something important in there. Anyway, if people agree to a text file without reading it, it doesn't mean they're not going to want to read it again later on, does it?

Rules are now linked in the footer to a nice(ish) template in 2.1
